New Milton dog walkers threatened with a wrench by angry driver, say police

A GROUP of dog walkers were threatened with a torque wrench by an angry driver during an incident in New Milton.

Police are appealing for information after a confrontation in Ashley Road at around 2.10pm on Sunday, December 3.

During the incident, a group of men and women were out walking a dog when they were threatened by a man who was driving a black Volkswagen Golf, Hampshire Police said.

“At one point, while walking along Ashley Road, the unknown man is reported to have parked a short distance in front of the group, retrieved a torque wrench from the boot of his vehicle and then started threatening one of the men with it,” a spokesperson added.

“The suspect was also said to be shouting, swearing and making verbal threats towards the victim.

“Thankfully, the victim and other members of the group, were unharmed.”

The suspect is described as being a white man in his mid-20s with a pale complexion, short, fair in colour, chinstrap-style facial hair, of skinny build and around 6ft 1ins tall.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, black tracksuit top and black bottoms.

“We believe this to be an isolated incident, which followed an earlier encounter between the suspect and the group,” the police spokesperson added.

“As such, we don’t believe there to be any wider concerns for, or threat to the community.”
