A NEW community flower garden has opened up in the grounds of a Verwood surgery that offers a peaceful sanctuary where visitors can rest, relax, and reflect.
The garden, which features a vibrant array of flowers and seating areas, was created at the Cranborne Practice Lake Road Surgery in memory of a practice pharmacist, Stephen Sheppard, who sadly passed away at a young age.
The tranquil garden was made possible thanks to donations by local residents, businesses and volunteers.
Over the past several months, community members have donated their time, services, and materials to bring the project to life—showcasing the power of collaboration and local spirit.
The aim of the garden was to create a calming environment where individuals can take a moment of peace— whether waiting for an appointment, supporting a loved one, or simply passing by.

The garden, which has been designed with inclusivity in mind, includes accessible benches, native plants for biodiversity, and quiet corners for reflection.
“This garden is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together as a community,” said Jo Morris, managing partner at The Cranborne Practice.

“We are incredibly grateful for everyone who contributed—whether through digging, planting, donating goods, or simply offering their encouragement. This space is for everyone.”
Contributors, patients, and Patient Participant Group members attended the launch ceremony, where thanks were extended to all those involved.
The garden now stands as a lasting symbol of community care and well-being.
The practice said members of the public are invited to visit and enjoy the garden during surgery opening hours.
