TWO renowned children’s illustrators have visited Wimborne to encourage young people to use their library.
Louise Yates and Mike Brownlow hosted talks and drawing sessions with young people at the Crown Mead library.
The events were funded by the Friends of Wimborne Library group, which is keen to encourage young people to visit the facility.
“Our thinking is that nowadays parents are working all week and children are in day nurseries, so there is little opportunity for pre-school children to visit their local library,” a spokesperson said.

“Consequently, many children are starting school never having been to a library.
“We believe libraries can change lives and are fortunate to have a vibrant library in Wimborne.
“By introducing more young children to the library we hope to encourage them to join and enrich their lives with books. We also aim to inspire greater involvement from local schools.”
