Footballing community rallies behind Bashley FC player facing life-threatening injuries

A FUNDRAISER has reached almost £20,000 after one of Bashley FC’s players was seriously injured in a car crash at the weekend.

30-year-old Jordan Chiedozie was hit by a car on the M27 between junctions 2 and 3 eastbound on Saturday (February 1).

Jordan was travelling back from a game against Tavistock AFC in Devon with Bashley’s physio Reighan Taylor when they pulled into a hard shoulder after a tyre blew out.

A car then hit Jordan, who is now facing potentially life-threatening injuries.

He was put in an induced coma while undergoing surgery.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary arrested a 44-year-old woman from Wraysbury, Windsor and Maidenhead, on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle when the alcohol level was above the limit and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Bashley FC players have launched a fundraising appeal to support Jordan – which has reached almost £20,000 at the time of writing.

Manager David Lewis said: “Everyone at the club is completely stunned by what happened, and our thoughts at the moment are far more with Jordan and his family, and with Reighan, than they are with football.

“Jordan’s teammates are understandably in bits.

He added: We are in close touch with Jordon’s immediate family and will do all that we can to support them at this awful time.”

Bashley FC chairman Steve Lewis said: “Our Bashley football family is heartbroken by this news and still trying to come to terms with the tragic events that occurred after our game on Saturday.

“We are all together in wishing Jordan and Reighan the deepest of love and well wishes”
