Flowers and sweets mark special Valentine’s celebration at Hamworthy care home

FLOWERS, cards and sweets were the order of the day for a Valentine’s celebration in Hamworthy.

Residents and staff at Upton Bay care home marked the day by decorating the premises in pink and red, while enjoying a special lunch, prepared by sous chef Victoria.

In the afternoon, our memory lane resident made a strawberry and blueberry heart, while everyone also indulged in a heart-shaped shortbread made by head chef, Alain.

Each resident was able to write a meaningful message on a pretty card and pass them to each other.

Activities’ lead Karen said: “We’ve all had a lovely day decorating the home and making gifts for each other and for our loved ones.

“Lots of our residents were able to see their loved ones either in person or via video call. We’ve had a whole range of treats and Valentine’s themed fun and we have enjoyed every moment of it.”

Joan, a resident at Upton Bay, said: “It has been a lovely day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get involved with the day’s festivities. I really liked the heart shaped biscuits and delicious lunch.”
