FIREFIGHTERS have been tackling two fires on heathland at two natures reserves in Poole overnight.
The first fire was reported at around 11.44pm last night (April 2) at Upton Heath, which saw around 80 firefighters mobilised to contain the 37-acre large blaze.
Crews battled into the early hours of this morning (April 3) to contain the fire before they were drafted in to help deal with a second fire over six acres of heathland that broke out at nearby Canford Heath at around 5.25am this morning.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said both fires have now been extinguished, and they expect to be on scene for some time.

“At this stage, we don’t know what caused the fire to start, but an investigation will take place once the fire is fully under control,” a spokesperson said.
“We are accessing the site via Canford Heath Road and Francis Avenue, so please take extra care in that area.”
Fires also broke out at the Moors Valley Country Park on Tuesday (April 1).
The fire service issued a warning earlier this week advising people to take care when out and about during the dry weather, as an amber wildlife alert is currently in place across Dorset and Wiltshire.
