Electric bike rider, 17, suffers “serious injuries” in Poole crash

A TEENAGER was seriously injured in a crash involving a car and an electric bike in Poole.

The incident happened in Ashley Road, near the junction with Richmond Road, at around 5.40pm on Sunday evening (July 14), police said.

Dorset Police and other emergency services attended the incident and a 17-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

“His family has been informed,” a police spokesperson said.

Road closures were put in place and were lifted at around 6.35pm.

Sergeant Richard Stroud, of the Dorset Police traffic unit, said: “We are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“I would also urge any motorists with relevant dashcam footage to please contact us.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
