THE night sky above Broadstone in Poole was lit up with spectacular fireworks as more than 3,000 people enjoyed the display.
Almost £16,000 is expected to be raised from the Broadstone First and Middle schools’ ninth annual fireworks display on October 25 – the largest display in the schools’ histories.
The event was organised by the schools’ parent teacher associations.
Broadstone Middle School headteacher Jade Palmer said the firework displays get better each year.
“We are lucky in that our estates manager Stuart Bonham has lots of pyrotechnic experience and works closely with Fireworks Solutions, which creates the display,” she said.

“The reputation of the display is such that people buy tickets early in order to ensure they can attend. In fact it is so popular we have had to create more space so we can get more people in to watch it.
“It is our biggest fundraiser by far and the funds are used across the two schools on a number of projects and improvements.
“The display attracts families including those whose children are not yet at one of our schools, but are thinking about coming.
“We are now looking ahead to the tenth anniversary display next year – it is always held on the first weekend of half term – so people can put it in their diaries now.”
Broadstone Middle and First Schools are part of Southern Education Trust.
