A BOOK presented to a star pupil in the West Midlands almost 120 years ago has been returned – after it was found in Dorset.
Cindie Raven picked up a copy of Father Tuck’s Book of Animal Life at a charity boot sale several years ago.
Inside, she found a sticker detailing how the book had been presented to Florence Taylor in 1904 in recognition of good behaviour by the City of Birmingham Education Committee.
Cindie decided to reunite the book with the school where it was presented, and sent it back to Brookfilds Primary School, in Birmingham.

In a letter sent alongside it, she wrote: “I am writing and sending you this book presented to a past student of your school 120 years ago.
“It was found at a charity boot fair around two years ago.
“I thought the best place for it would be with you, at the very school it was first presented at.
“A little bit of history.”
A Brookfields spokesperson said: “What an amazing piece of history.”
