Body found in search for missing Edward O’Carroll in Wimborne

A BODY has sadly been found in the search for missing Wimborne man Edward O’Carroll.

Police have confirmed the find, at around 10am this morning (October 3), in the water near Julian’s Bridge.

“While the man has yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be 83-year-old Edward O’Carroll – who was last been in the town during the morning of Wednesday, October 2,” a Dorset Police spokesperson said.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed. Our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.

“We would like to thank everyone who was involved in the searches and assisted officers, including Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR), Hampshire Search and Rescue, Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WiltSAR), Wessex Rescue, Wessex 4X4 Response and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.”
