40 firefighters battle scrapyard blaze in Ferndown

40 FIREFIGHTERS scrambled to Ferndown at the weekend following reports of a fire involving a scrapyard.

Crews from Ringwood and Eastleigh were called to the industrial estate on Cobham Road in Ferndown on Saturday (March 8) at around 3.30pm.

A Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a fire involving a scrapyard.”

They added: “Local residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed and to avoid the area.

“The incident was later scaled back to three fire engines and one aerial ladder platform.

“At the height of the incident we had approximately 40 firefighters on scene and they used multiple main line jets to extinguish.”
